Gate 4: The Shadow IT Interceptor

Does your Finance team have their own software budget? How about Marketing or HR?

In a $20M to $100M company, "Shadow IT" isn't just about employees using unapproved apps, it’s a symptom of a leadership vacuum. When the CIO seat is vacant, departments don't stop needing solutions. They just stop asking IT for permission.

The Symptom:
You discover three different project management tools being paid for on three different department credit cards. None of them talk to each other. None of them are being backed up. All of them are a security risk.

The Reality:
Shadow IT is actually "Unmet Need" in disguise. Without a strategic leader to provide a "Yes, and here is how we secure it" path, your team will find their own way, usually at the expense of your data integrity and your budget.
The Check:

  • Scan your company expense reports for "Software" or "Subscription" line items outside of the IT budget.
  • Are these tools integrated into your single sign-on (SSO), or does the data live in a silo?

If your departments are building their own "Digital Islands," you’ve lost the Interceptor.

The Continuity Goal:
Create a Strategic Fast-Track. During a transition, you don't want to say "No" to everything, that just drives the behavior underground. You need a temporary process that vets new tools for risk while ensuring the business keeps moving.

Don't let a 6-month vacancy turn your unified infrastructure into a fragmented mess.
